The points I can think of very different !<br><br>They are given below.<br><br><br>1. Nessus<br>2. IPtables<br>3. SELinux<br>4. how fast the bugs (security / kernel ) are fixed<br>5. Nmap<br>6. Architecture difference with certain other virus friendly OSes<br>
7. Stability<br>8. Scalability<br>9 Virtualization support which can be used by large organizations<br>10. The total cost of ownership to setup a secure office with GNU solution is much less compared <br> to others<br>
11. Its easy to push updates to GNU based solution<br>12. Samba / NFS<br>13. File System encryption<br>14. interoperability with various protocols<br>15. availability of various network monitoring tools for someone who is managing security<br>
16. FreeRADIUS - there will be Diameter servers too but I am not aware.<br><br>I think there are lot more add in the security area and we can add applications too - like gpg, FF or even the encryption support in pidgin / gaim<br>

ILUG Cochin has been invited to put a stall in the Cyber Safe 2009,<br>
an annual event conducted by the Kochi City Police as part of the<br>
Information Security Day. Its a 3 day program starting from 6th August.<br>
The exhibition is on 8th Saturday, August 2009.<br>

The theme of the stall will be "Security with Freedom". There will be<br>
