[ILUG-Cochin.org] could not able to download all repository indexes.. plz help me i didnt understand any thing

i just install ubuntu 7.04 in the my computer...
i have only one week experiance in this linux and didnt know anything....

i install ubuntu because i am very much attracted to free software concept......

after installing the ubuntu i couldnt able to play music or run c or cpp programs in my pc 

any one plz give me a real solutions 
i am sending request in this group for last three or four days..
some people said tht this is just noob email some suggest me some code but nothing realy work

still i could not able to fix the problem
wht should i do 

plz any one help me...
i am just a beginer tht is y...
any way i am not intrested in going back to windows or other properitary software... so plz give a hand...
i want to knw wht is happening in my pc... 
wht is my problem..
