Meeting Agenda : " Localization and Free Software "
(proposed)

Localization is a very important factor in bridging the digital divide. 
It brings the common man closer to technology
breaking the "linguistic barriers". Indeed localization in free software 
is another important
agenda with regard to spreading awareness and educating people about the 
concept.

Our discussion will primarily focus on the following topics :
- Importance of localization in Free Software.
- Malayalam Localization projects - Swathanthra Malayalam Computing.
- Contributing to localization projects.
- Digital Content in Malayalam ( Malayalam documentation ).

The focus here is mainly on our Native language although the concepts 
are applicable to
any localization discussion.

We all are aware of the Localization project undertaken by the 
government of Kerala called
" Nammude Bhasha Nammude Computerinu" (Our language Our Computer 
)(www.malayalam.kerala.gov.in)
The discussion will be held in light of this project and how the Free 
Software Community can contribute
to the implementation of full fledged localization solutions in order to 
realize the goals of this project.

The idea behind the discussion is to encourage people to contribute at 
different levels of localization.
We must definitely consider the fact that localization projects are top 
priority because it is one
aspect that is going to help boost the Swathanthra Software Movement and 
bring it closer to the common man.


Technical Presentation 1 : " Malayalam with Tex " by Venkat

The presentation will take us through a step by step guide to creating 
Malayalam documents using the powerful
typesetting tool Latex.

Technical Presentation 2 : " Malayalam with Openoffice " by Sreenadh
http://malayalam.kerala.gov.in/index.php/EnableMalayalam

Using Malayalam with Openoffice is very much important for creating 
documents.
The presentation will throw some light to configuring Openoffice to use 
Malayalam.

Application of the Month : Firefox 3

Starting this month we will be giving a small introduction to a FOSS 
Application every month.
This month undoubtedly it is Mozilla Firefox 3

SPECIAL PRESENTATION ::

Screening of the Big Buck Bunny Open Movie and small talk about the 
concept of Open movie.
(Thanks to Mr IB Manoj for the projector )

We will have our usual Q&A Session after the Presentations , if time permits

There is going to be lot of action this months meeting , so make sure 
you brave the traffic and rains and reach there
on time.
