Hello ILUG Members

Mr Anand Haridas has written an article in the Hindu Paper (Kochi
Edition, dated 30/5/2008) titled "Film Actor in a Soup" in the
"Talkback" Section ( on the second page )

The article talks about Film Actor Mammootty's response to the open
letter send by the Free Software Community.

The article unfortunately states wrongly that the letter was posted by
ILUG Cochin, when in fact although ILUG has only supported the letter
and signed on it on the website as follows :
http://fci.wikia.com/wiki/Open_Letter_To_Mammootty.

The article also talks wrongly that the response was posted on the ILUG
Site, but it was posted on the same link above.

The links were definitely posted on the ILUG Cochin Mailing List.

With what I understand the letter has been initiated by the "FOSS
Communtiy India", although I am not sure on who exactly drafted the
letter. So the credit for it definitely goes to FCI and the concerned
people.

About FCI from the website
"FOSS Community, India is started by Praveen A
<http://fci.wikia.com/wiki/User:Pravs> to connect various disconnected
FOSS Communities in India and co-ordinate FOSS related activities across
India. It is maintained by the active users
<http://fci.wikia.com/wiki/Special:Activeusers>. This wiki could play
'decentralised central resource' as every one gets to fill in their
parts and one could find all parts in one place."

The article definitely provides a publicity to the Swathanthra Software
Community and provides a boost for our cause. And ILUG Cochin
undoubtedly stands together with
all organizations working for the cause of Free Software.

The Free Software community thanks Mr Anand for the article, and
request him to take note of the correction and publish a correction in
the coming editions if possible.

Thank You

Regards
Sameer Mohamed Thahir
